At Detroit Merit Academy, we believe that every elementary and middle school child should have a well rounded education that exercises both the heart and the mind. That is why we believe in having a strong Detroit community involvement.

- Girl Scouts
One of the community service projects that Detroit Merit participated in during the 2007-2008 school year was Pennies for Patients to benefit the Leukemia and Lymphoma society. The school raised $1002.77, almost $200 more than the previous year!
